Abstract: |
Purpose: To present the ocular findings in Costello syndrome. Methods: Thirteen patients with Costello syndrome were examined by multiple pediatric specialists. The ocular findings of these children are presented. Results: Ophthalmic features found in patients with Costello syndrome include epicanthal folds (85%), myopia (69%), downslanting palpebral fissures (62%), prominent eyelashes (54%), bushy eyebrows (46%), tearing (46%), reduced versions (46%), strabismus (38%), nystagmus (38%), various optic nerve abnormalities (31%), and cataract (8%). Conclusion: Costello syndrome is a rare sporadic syndrome of unknown etiology. Forty patients have been reported in the literature. Children with Costello syndrome need appropriate ophthalmic consultation. |
